The GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler MPS is a highly productive LC autosampler and sample preparation robot for up to 3456 samples. In combination with the GERSTEL MAESTRO Software, the MPS provides more performance and higher productivity in sam-ple preparation than any other commercially avail-able LC/MS or LC autosampler. The MPS is compati-ble with all standard LC Systems.

The MPS completely automates SPME analysis in-cluding fiber conditioning, sample extraction, fiber desorption, and fiber exchange. Derivatization can be performed on the fiber or reagents added to the sample prior to extraction. The unique GERSTEL Agi-tator Stirrer provides sample agitation with stir bars, accelerating the extraction process and improving throughput. Mechanical stress on the fibers is re-duced, resulting in longer fiber life expectancy and improved instrument up-time.
The MAESTRO software operates all GERSTEL mod-ules and system solutions in a simple and efficient manner. MAESTRO can be operated as stand-alone software or fully integrated with the Agilent Tech-nologies ChemStation. Just one method and one se-quence table runs the complete system from Sample Prep and Sample Introduction to GC/MS or LC/MS analysis. Set-up is performed in a very simple man-ner: By mouse-click.
The needle types 22 and 22S have the same outer diameter: 0.72 mm OD and a straight needle tip (Type LC or 3). Type 22 and 22S differ only by their internal diameter ( 0.41 mm and 0.15 mm ID respec-tively); Due to the larger ID, a type 22 needle enables faster syringe filling: Up to 200 μL/sec for type 22 as opposed to 10 – 20 μL/sec for the 22S.
If vials need to be reopened and emptied after analy-sis, magnetic vial caps with aluminum edges (Bi-met-al) offer the best solution. The softer edges allow easy crimping and decrimping using a hand-crimper. If steel caps are used, it is recommended to use a bench-top crimper.
